  Qian Liu (qianlw) is extremely caring and treats her students like her own children. I had a lot of mental health issues while taking 204 and she listened to me and gave a lot of good advice and encouragement because she went through the same thing. The class does have weekly homework quizzes but it's manageable for heritage speakers.

  Qian Liu is the best professor I have ever had, possibly the kindest person I have ever met If you really care about learning Chinese, I highly recommend taking this class. The workload can sometimes be a little bit on the heavier side but I guarantee your Chinese will improve tremendously after taking this class.

  Qian was the funniest, most chill professor Ive ever had. He was a super easy grader and its not hard to get an A if you put in minimal effort. His teaching style was hard to understand at times and a bit unorganized, but overall he was great.

  One of the most caring and patient professors I have ever had. She is extremely enthusiastic and genuinely cares about each of her students. I never liked Chinese very much but I looked forward to every class with her.

  She is a very kind teacher who gives you feedback and is accessible during class and during office hours without making you feel lowly. Also, she has a lot of energy when teaching Chinese and makes class enjoyable. However, there are frequent vocab quizzes that add up and the exams do get quite hard. Also, she can be a tough grader.

  She is a very good instructor. I always looked forward to her lecture, and although there are frequent vocabulary quizzes, we always knew what characters were going to be tested and at the end they helped me stay on track in this class. She is very accessible for help, although the exams may be a little hard.

  Best chinese teacher I've had out of 6 teachers! She gives really helpful feedback, she grades hard but fair, and challenges you in a fun way! She just has one of those warm personalities that makes asking for help easier. Puts effort into her lesson plans. You must show up to class to get an A. Biweekly presentations, weekly vocab quizzes and hw.

  Amazing teacher who is very patient and kind. Doesn't make you feel dumb when she gives you feedback about your Chinese pronunciation or sentence structures. You should go to office hours because she'll practice Chinese with you. Weekly vocab quizzes and regular presentations. Also she's super pretty! :)

  She's an amazing teacher and person, really supportive of near-native students expanding their Chinese capabilities. She's a tough but fair grader. Go to office hours if you need extra help; you won't regret it. It's also fun to chat with her about life in general. I'm excited to take 204 with her again!

  She is so adorable! Although she is a tough grader she gives heavy weight on participation. She is clear in her directions, easy to communicate with, and very helpful in office hours. My Chinese improved significantly and I loved working with her. One of my favorite teachers.
